Title: Loading OEM Map to "My ECU" 16M Post by Capt. About Lunchtime on 07/22/09 at 22:35:14
Hi all this is a bit long winded.... but here goes
I have managed to upload the map from my OEM ECU, or at least a mate of a mate has managed to. I have the file and can open it in the "PSPad editor" program that has been recomended for map editing elsewhere on this forum. The file is listed as a Hex file on its properties page I can also read the Sport 1100 map as a Hex file using the PSPad editor program. This file is listed as an ECU file on its properities page I cannot however load the OEM map Hex file into the ECUControl 143 program for loading into the "My ECU 16M". Is it posiable to reformat the OEM Hex file so that the ECUControl 143 software can read and accept it? I don't understand much of this and am parroting a lot but I'm hopping to start with the OEM map, which is actually a "Fuel Injected Motorcycle" map and not an OEM map at all. It is however the map that came with the bike when I purchased it as a demo model, equiped with aftermarket exhusts. 2001 Ducati 748R with Termogini pipes. Sorry but I am a bit of a computer dill and am not real confident starting with the guzzi sport map. Much lower redline for a start. All and any help appreicated along with smart, witty even sarcastic comments |

You need the proper software to read the hex file and print or write human readable maps to files. Google for Wayne Orwig's ECUEDIT program. It's freeware.
Then you need to manually convert those maps and tables to a MyECU map file. It's not rocket science but it's a little tedious. |

Wayne Orwigs proggy shows you only the main fuel map if i remember correctly. That's not enough for your purposes. It'll give you no info about pressure, temp, deadtime e.a. correction tables.
You'll get more for your spent daytime if you take a standard Duc map (available here from someone?) and adjust that to your needs. You own a wideband O2 probe? Hubert |

This thread should move to the 'advanced usage' section... anyway, here are links to the programs. Both are freeware. Both are for WM IAW 16M. Orwig's has a special version for Ducati ST2, I'm not sure why.
Ecuedit v2.2 by Wayne Orwig. This is a DOS program. No bells and whistles but it can show or edit all maps and tables except injector dead time. ECUMapEditor v1.0.3 by Andrew Ball. This is a Windows program with some more features (like graphs. It has no more real functionality than Wayne's little program). |

Thanks for the replies fellas
I located the Wayne Orwig site a couple of days ago, same link as you posted Raz, and downloaded both Zip files. Unfortunately I cannot open them as I suspect they're for an eariler version of Windows. They open as a blank black screen for about 1/2 a second then dissappear completely. I have downloaded Andrew Balls program and will attempt using that presently. Luhdo, I don't have an O2 probe. Should I? My bike operates in open loop and thus has no O2 sensor. I plan to install an O2 sensor and investigate closed loop operation later, much much later LOL I allready have the original map just cant load the bugger into the ECU Controller. If someone here has a correctly formatted map for a Ducati 748R 2001 that they could post I'd be most obliging. This is a steep learning curve for me. I'm ok with Dellorto's but EFI and ECU's not so good. Thanks again |

I'm not running Windows right now but I don't recall having any problem whatsoever running Wayne's program from Windows XP. Maybe you should run it from a cmd.exe prompt and get more clues. The advantage of Wayne's program if I recall correctly is that you can save the maps as comma delimited files, which will save you from a LOT of typing if you are clever enough to make use of them. I have a feeling our fellow member Greenmonster will hand you a map as soon as he comes back here. |

Ball`s software works.
I don`t think any software converts .bin to .ecu files f EcuControl, you`ll have to transfer data yourself. I have 907 & ST4s maps f MyECU & 916 as textfile if you want. |

You will have to change all the TPS points from the OEM map to the My16. OEM uses degress and My16 just takes the TPS voltage and devides it with 1024 ( I think) and then you get a TPS value.
I used a Ultimap U59 map to my 851/996 that I changed the TPS in that way. Works with no problems. At the same time I changed some of the break points to some more easy to use valus. 342 was changed to 350 389 was changed to 400 and so on. It takes some time but it works god. What EPROM do you have in your 748R? The Oem once and the Ducati Performance are crap with a terrible ignition map. Massive improvements can be done by changing the ignition map Jocke......... |
