did you all just dl one of Cliff´s maps and starting were just great & no problemo?
Those who followed my efforts at the V11 forum know that f Duc owners,
is not that easy. ::)
I developed a good one after lotsa effort this spring but still some kickbacks, f e.

Tried some radical stuff tonight w Idle TPS, Prime &
Spk Adv Row 0.
Did not feel anything radical happened.

I had starting problems with the OEM. I had even more problems with MyECU but I never bothered trying to fix it. Then suddenly this spring it got tremendously better as a side effect after I backed off idle screw to WHB spec and adjusted idle speed by changing the pulse width in (0,1). I never changed prime table or ignition.

Looking at Captain's log, I now realize I also adjusted InjAdv right before that sudden improvement. Maybe that contributed to it. Throughout the map I use an InjAdv that corresponds to a start of injection at 740 degrees so each InjAdv cell is calculated depending on speed and pulse width.

My (0,0) cell, used while cranking, is 720 and my idle cell (0,1) is 705.

You should take a capture of the ECU data while starting so that we can eliminate any other issues.

I once had a Ducati ecu at hands, from a 800cc Monster if I remember right. I put it into the V11 to see what it does. The engine did start as easy as with the V11 unit. Really no difference. I'm quite sure your Ducati should start with the V11 settings also, as long as everything else works as designed at least.

BTW, I would avoid radical changes in the map. The environment is changing radically enough from day to day (temp, pressure, humidity etc.)

Got closer today.
Inj Adv adj no cigar, backing idle TPS within 60-150 good.

MyECU V11/Cali starting values good, spark at TDC & Prime values cloose.

Suitable Idle TPS value = essential!

Main struggle: Even if you do radical things w Prime/Ign/ etc, hard to tell what direction to go.... ;)

GM, did you try logging? I haven't managed to get a good log of engine start. Not that I have tried very hard.

Logging is a little slow, or my engine fires up very quickly. I don't see any <500 rpm crank pulsewidths, it goes from zero to 900 rpm.
Line 5 is interesting, what on earth pushed that thr coordinate up? Accel pump?
Line 6 says engine stalled, but it recovered.

I'll log a couple of starts and see if I can get better info.

The throttle jump is interesting. Amazing what you can miss when you're not looking for it. I think throttle pump is the reason but its not an intended result. I'll have a look at fixing that.
The priming uses a different route which is why it looks like nothing is happening.

What I'm specifically looking for is any restarts of the processor due to low voltage. Yours is good.

Throttle pump makes no difference on my bike (for starting the engine - no probs so or so).
The MyEcu starts big engines easily, even with small and even with weak batteries.

BTW, there is no need to have 10000 in the upper lines at rpms below 3000 or so. So if T/P was an issue for starting you could adjust these values.

Good catch Hubert, I never gave those cells attention. I should probably wind them down quite a bit if the ECU consistently makes that jump. I'll log a few more starts when I get the time.

Greenmonster, if I were you I would produce a bunch of engine start logs. Maybe this is part of the problem.

For what it's worth I just logged a number of engine starts and never catched that weird throttle jump again.

I mailed the map that worked good in early summer this year, luhbo. Started well cold w full idle lever.

Funny, until this posting I somehow felt you might have problems with your map and/or engine starting. Now, when you write the bike started well, what are we talking about?

After lotsa fiddling this spring I had a map that gave me a good start (= quite quick & NO kickbacks).
That is the SEM 09 map I sent you.

That has somehow faded away during summer to difficult start w kickbacks now.

How do I log a start?

Well no radical changes to the map.
The prime and boost values are temperature dependent so you should just need to do a small correction of the appropriate entries.
