Title: Optimizer Lambda-Values
Post by Laverdalothar on 06/08/10 at 16:00:30
Hi Folks,

friend of mine is trying to get my Laverda 750 S Formula set up with the My16M and the Optimizer with wide-band Lambda and LC1 installed. We get it running for about a minute or so quiet nicely and have to sort out the map quiet much, as currently the sucker is running quiet rich to a point where it just turns off the engine. The Laverda (a 2000 Model) has fairly large injectors, so any slight change in the map has a big influence in the A/F-Ratio.

Now - sometimes we get Lambda-Readings from the Optimizer that gets us a bit head-scratching: The value does not change for some secounds in the Optimizer display when running in auto-tune and allthough we pull throttle (while engine sensors are switched off via dipp-switch). Is that normal?

Also the tacho-needle keeps moving slightly although the RPM in the Optimizer shows constant revs. Seams the signal output is not 100% "clean"?!? Anything that is known already and maybe even fixed with a current Firmware version? Thanks

Your setup is off the crank and wasted spark isn't it?
If so it would be getting 2 injections per cycle.

The tacho movement you are seeing could be the rpm/throttle mode. Set SW 3 to on for normal tacho.

Can't really work out your 2nd paragraph. Use a voltmeter on the LC1 output as a double check for the moment. The Optimiser sensor display should be immediate. You're not confusing it with the correction are you?

Hi and thanks for the reply

yes, the setup is off the crank with wasted spark. Friend of mine is doing the tuning currently for me, so I have to relay on what he tells me; and he said: Even if I switch 3 on, it shows that erratic movement. I is really just a minor movement as he said, just as if the signal wouldn't be a 100% rectangular signal as it comes from the WM16M. Think it might make sense to maybe put the oscilloscope on to see what signal comes out...

Regarding the Lambda-Values I also can only repeat what he said and that was that the Voltage output on the Optimiser remains at - say - 2V for some seconds and then moves on. Voltmeter is exactly what he is going to do next to see if there is a problem with the O2 sensor or where it comes from.

Thanks again!! :-)
