Title: tuning myECU Post by strokers on 04/15/11 at 07:31:43
Hi Guys I'm new and now tuning the ecu . Based map and even the map from Raz on my sporti can run but has glitches on part throttle , 4000rpm hesistation, and more, at least on my bike.
Cliff' map with idle set to 102 cannot work on my bike and idle has to be set to 39 only. So now the question , how do I make the map fit if I change his idling values? Do I just minus the injection duration numbers by the difference of 102 to 39 which is 63. :-? |

Idle TPS is individual to each bike.
Are your basics in order, meaning service/valves done recently, TPS base setting is correct? |

No :'( Hubert and I have done over 20 emails the last couple of days trying to get him started on the right track. As far as I can make out, there are a number of issues. 1) There is a flat spot at 4000RPM, mid throttle. 2) The idle is not yet sorted 3) There are some communication issues, for instance when Hubert says "Cliff' map with idle set to 102 cannot work on my bike". The issue as for I could tell was that it was idling too fast and had the above mentioned flat spot. Also when he says "idle set to 39", I don't know if he is winding down the idle with the idle stop screw, or just putting 39 into the ECU. The first thing that needs to be sorted, Hubert, is the idle. Ignore the 4000 flat spot unit the idle and set up is sorted. If someone wants to have a go rewriting my first steps page ... |

Ok cliff
The bike is almost new, only 4000kms. Valves and others are in good nick. As mentioned I only bought your ecu to learn a little more about what you have to offer. The bike cannot idle at 102 as mentioned. I use 39 because with that map it idles best at 1100rpm. Since you mentioned i richen up the map I therfore ask you whether they could be align to your base of 102 because I can't believe there is so much difference between where you live and where I am. I am trying to get your map and idle as a starting base. (How do the factory bikes work in so many countries with a single map, same theory). without trying all the options I wouldnt have any questions. As mentioned I am happy with the results of the Myecu AND INTENT TO make it work. Cliff has been really helpful despite my many e mails and is really prompt in replying to my mails. I'm just trying all options to make it work and start with a cliff initial base map. :) |

Oh I forgot to mention . The idling 39 came from the idle stop and I use the ecu controller to change accordingly.

Go back to where you were on Monday and we'll proceed from there.
RE: From: Hubert Chin <motogoo@> View Contact To: cliffj007@ Ok . jUST ADJUSTED THE tps again and the injection duration to 2728us and bike now idles nicely at 1100 thereabouts and no more backfiring. Will bring it for a ride later to see how it is. Thaks for your fast response . It really helps a great deal. You should put your tps value in again. Just download and try a ride |

Since having a proper idle setting is critical I went back to mondays setting and try as I might , i could not make the bike idle properly at other than between 32-40 setting(with idle stop).Since the setting should be between 50 to 150, but is somethiing my bike cannot run at due to high idle rpm and sticking rpm when throttle is release I have no choice but to use between 32-40.
mY TPS IS SET TO 150mV as per specs.(everything disconnected). Is it ok to use this throttle setting? |

Well if that's what your bike wants thats what you should set.
What are your air bleed screws set to. |
Title: Re: tuning myECU Post by strokers on 04/17/11 at 17:37:37
Air bleed I round out, yesterday the ecu controller stopped working, any idea why it could not read the bike sensors and throttle position and more. It does not even show rpm and throttle lines. :(

?? I have no idea what that means. I think the standard setting is 2 turns out. The possible problems with the ECUController are ECUController set to wrong com port USB dongle come up as different port to before This page may help diagnosing http://www.cajinnovations.com/MyECU/SerialComms.htm I don't think Vista has hyperterminal any more so you will need to find some alternative. |

you're right comm setting reverted to old setting. after reducing your map by 10% from 200 to 600 and 5% from 600 to 1000 . I got the bike running glitch free, well almost. Can i increase fuel (+5%)at closed throttle to allow less engine braking at rpm 500 to 510 and throttle from 200 to 600. Does the ecu controller work in this range ? ;D
Boy the ecu is really good. My bike even though not fully sorted is running much better , smoother and more powerful than standard. Must get one for the centy. Any one has a base centy map out here? :) |
Title: Re: tuning myECU Post by strokers on 04/20/11 at 01:44:57
Ok Just for info , adding 5% at 500 to 510 throttle doesn't help. Surprising bike felt richer throughout and although can run and is smoother on midrange to WOT the throttle feels non linear.
Back to old settings again and need more riding time to fine tune. :) |

ok just the latest update. I got the mappings soted and now my sports 1100i is a different animal altogether. Very good at low rpm, from 2 to 3 k and gets stronger from there all the way to 8000rpm. Power is linear and throttle feel is linear as well. Great ecu... Oh I forgot to mention I did advance the ignition 2 degress from 2k till 4k. thanks cliff, maybe now for the centauro... :)once i know how to I'll post the maps here

That's pleasing to hear. Well done.
This forum has a section specifically for maps. If you can't figure out the attach just put it inline. We can all cut and paste. |
