Title: My16M 2005 Post by Megamax on 10/02/14 at 13:56:16
Hello, I first purchased one of Cliff's My16M ecus and Optimiser for my 1998 Sporti (full Staintune exhaust system) in 2005 and after a few problems with mapping and voltage drop were sorted by March 2006, it has run flawlessly since. Indeed I haven't touched it in the meanwhile - smooth, reliable, miss free, economical etc etc. (Haven't needed the Optimiser as all I have used it for was to note the air temperature and to add a little wank value.)
Recently I had to replace the rubber induction manifolds - the previous ones had perished and one split after only 16 years - and since their replacement, there's a very annoying miss between 2,700 and 2,900 rpm on a constant throttle setting which equates to pottering through the city of Hobart. It's also running lean, backfiring (does sound nice though) on the overrun if the bike's being fanged. The new manifolds seemed a frac shorter than the old ones (perhaps 1 mm), but they're fitted properly and don't leak. The throttle bodies have also been balanced. Now, although not new to the MY16ecu, it's so long since I've played with it, I've forgotten what to do with the map to adjust it. Do I play with the values in the Injector Duration area? Am I even thinking the right sort of tweaking thoughts? My bike doesn't have Oxygen sensors. The other issue I now have is that it's a bit of a pain to start cold, taking around three good cranks and then running on the RH pot before the other kicks in. So an oldie who's become a newbie again. Any and all advice greatly appreciated. Current map attached. ![]() |

Given that you have touched around the throttle bodies, you need to go through the initial setting up again, especially regarding TPS
