Title: Map needed...long read Post by david on 05/17/17 at 01:43:15
I built an engine for my 02 California Special Sport. 11.1:1 pistons, Megacycle X-9 cam, Mike Rich Motorsports ported, flowed and dual plug heads, titanium push rods, lightened fly wheel, custom 2" stainless exhaust with O2 bungs, Cone Engineering reverse cone pipes, and over size oil pump. I choose to go with MyECU for the ultimate in tuneability. I'm an old carb guy and have had a real challenge rapping my head around this process. I followed all the initial settings instructions along with suggestions from Mike Rich regarding ignition timing with dual plug heads.
I mounted an air fuel gauge on the handle bars along with a wide band O2 sensor in the right header pipe. I mounted a cell phone with the optimiser app, also on the bars, to try and correlate THR, RPM and air fuel ratio. I would then pull over and adjust injection duration of individual cells. This, I thought, was a logical process. Cliff has been very patient with me. Unfortunately, being a newbie, it takes me a while to get a solid understanding. My last email with Cliff was about functions and features of setting the ECU in closed loop. When I assembled the ECU I flipped the switch as per instructions and wired the O2 sensor into it via the gauge. Much to my ignorance, the value for the O2 in my map was set to 0. Cliff clued me in and I changed it to 1. Big difference, and not in a good way. Although I now have an additional graph on to app the rideability, especially mid range up is awful. On the highway when I start to roll out on the throttle it runs lean and falls flat. I quickly roll back and watch the A/F gauge in hopes of not doing any damage. The ONLY change to the map was changing the O2 value from 0 to 1. Prior to that the bike was running pretty good and I thought I was just making tweaks. Do any of you veterans, with similar engine configuration have: 1. Any advice 2. A map that will be close to suiting my needs Thank you all in advance! Cheers, David |

Did you get any help with this? You just need to configure O2 targets.
