I am since long the owner of a Cagiva Gran Canyon
years ago, i bought an do-it-yourself-kit.
The assembly is a challenge, but can be done by an amateur.

The testing happend during wintertime when the bike was in the workshop. All functions except real start could be checked.

The myecu sat in the shelf for 3 or 4 years.

Last month i tried it first time, bile not warmed up as recommended.

It started at the first attempt.
Some inital backfiring and no stable idle.
But a great experience.

The first observation: rev-counter is overshooting. The original ecu reacts less direct to changes in revs. MYECU moves the needle faster, does some overshoot and turns back to real value. This is a observation, not a problem.

Next time i did the test when the bike was warmed up, using the original ecu. Again the bike started  immediately with the MYECU when i hit the button,

Nice response when i play with the throttle.

The remaining task is to find an stable idle.
According to the manual, idle should be at 1250.
But it idles at 1100.
And stalls.
Now i ask for  advice how to continue.

Start with the obvious and adjust idle up abit. It is possible idle fuelling is a bit lean too. Add abit more fuel and see how it goes. for example, if currently has 1850ms fuel timing at idle, try 1900ms. small amounts make a difference.
There is a little bit of set up work to get things ideal, but is well work it.
Get TPS set right, getting break points in maps set up also.
This is a stock TPS set up for my ST4. As a base, i would dare say would work ok in your Grand Canyon.

Worth mentioning.
Get a wideband O2 sensor. Will make tuning much easier.
Plenty of kits available. Can wire it into ECU and "auto tune" in a sense.

The overshoot of the revs may actually be due to the alternate function of the tacho - throttle display. That's mentioned here - https://www.myecu.biz/OwnersManual/OwnersManual.html. Make sure SW3 is in the ON position. Also SW1 should be ON to be in open loop mode.
The recommendation is to start with a warm engine but you achieved the harder cold start, well done.

The line you want to adjust for idle mixture is
InjDur 00  6950  1975  1710  1704  1583  1286  1220  1154  1087   989   938   889   955   955   791   641
The 2nd mixture entry 1975 is the one you want to adjust. Maybe the third also if idle speed is high.

Thanks for the hints. I am beginning to understand the meaning of most of the parameters. But have no complete understanding of the impact if i change some. So i will come with questions.

A nice "helper" is my test-environment. i have a complete cable harness, the sensors, throttlebodies and an ignition switch. So i am able to play a bit "on desktop".

A wide-band O2 sensor is already on board and it is connected to an innovate-converter-board. All parts are in place to start "closed loop" mode. But i want to go step-by-step.

Cliff: is there an update of the software that i should put into my ecu ?

Motociclo: once i was the proud owner of a st4s abs. It was the most funny dangerous challenge to keep my driving licence.
