Temp relations coolant-engine/oil?
05/26/09 at 08:06:08

I just have a coolant temp gauge on my bike.
How is that related to engine temp,
more precise, at what engine temp does the fan start spinnin?
I`m interested in optimal working temp f my engine acc to power, economy, reliability etc.
What is my engines optimum work temp?
Just guessing there are some standard parameters f this.

Or should I just get an oil temp gauge? Tongue

MyECU does not control the fan.

The idea behind the coolant/oil temp is that is was only for engine starting. Both should go above 50C in normal operation and hence this feature is out of the picture then.

I was just wondrin if there was some standard temp of watercooled engines, like f e +110C, when the water usually gets hot enough f the fan to start.

As an indicator if engine is running too hot or cold.
