Any trick to it? 03/22/10 at 17:07:19 I've desoldered all the pins and the 26 pin connector and it still wont budge from the original ecu. Anyone have any suggestions? is it also glued on or do I just have to muscle it out? Thanks for any feedback. Charles my15m

I usually try and lever it off but don't over do it. Check each pin for movement. Sometimes it better if you reapply solder and then suck it again.

I found it necessary resp. helpfull to press out the connector (My15M) by laying it with the pin ends onto a piece of metal and then press down the OEM pcb. Hubert

Reply #5 - 06/30/10 at 10:10:08 It appears like it would be a simple matter to accidently put the connector on the new board upside down (if there's a wrong way I'll do it every time). It's very hard to read the tiny number markings. Am I right in thinking the clip goes nearer to spark transistor Q2?

Reply #6 - 06/30/10 at 11:28:55 On the OEM board there is a hole for the connector that stops it going the wrong way. Check the orientation on the old board. From memory the double slots inside the connector go towards the centre.

Sometimes I will ask a stupid question just to get folks thinking about it, I'm sure at least one of your customers has put it on the wrong way up.
So far so good, all the tests on construction sheet passed without a hitch. I got one or two components in the wrong spot at first but hopefully I managed to catch them all.
I will use 4700 pF for the high voltage spark suppressors unless you tell me otherwise.

The solder wick worked great, really quick, once I found the right temperature for the soldering iron. The inexpensive solder pump wasn't helpful. The connector came free, by heating all the de-soldered pins with a very small torch while pulling on the connector. Joe

Perhaps this might be helpful for the connector problem, too Hubert

I heard of that, using soldering paste and an oven. Not a technique I'd to try on anything valuable.
