A Different Interface

I seem to recall someone asking for a more waterproof Interface, I couldn't find the thread.
What about re-programming a GPS unit, it seems to me they have a nice display, touch screen and a USB port just begging to be messed with.
Has anyone tried to use one of those for other than intended?

i'm going to try to use a 7" netbook + a touchscreen that you can find on ebay + a bluetooth gps and racechrono
