Loading maps EcuController 1.51

I have just built my second My15M, the last died within a few days of use - probably due to my poor build quality.

I am now loading the map, how long should it take, I am using an MSI wind notebook with windows 98.

The instructions say the map is loaded over 'multiple passes' for robustness.  how many passes is this, how do I know when to stop the loading process.  I don't remember this taking so long, 10 mins at least, the last time.

The 2nd pass should nail it.

Try uploading the map from the ECU and compare it with what you are trying to load.

Can you send me the map you are trying to load, maybe there's something data specific.

You could also try version 160, it uses a different method for file transfer.

NOW USING 160b

Loaded your SPORT.ECU map, then immediately downloaded it without changing anything.  Saved that as SPORTECHO.ECU.

I then printed both maps out with Wordpad, I was suprised to find the RPM/SpkAdv and the RPM/InjAdv data had changed completely.

The original SpkAdv row 00 was: '10.78   8.20   4.92   14.30' etc.
The saved version row 00 became: '00325.66202.62284 etc' (no spaces) also the data started on a new line after the 'SpkAdv text.  I noticed that saved data for row 00 was 00325,  for row 01 01172,  row 02  023345, and so on - the first two digits reflecting the row number.
'
The original InjAdv row 00 (and all other rows) was '600   600   600 etc.

The saved version row 00 became: '4   127   45   4' etc.
Any ideas, strange how the other tables seem OK.

Incidentely the bike won't start even with warm engine.

The air pressure, voltage and temps seem to be reporting OK, temps perhaps 5' too high.

Any ideas.

Do you want me to send you the files, if so how - email? or if onto this board how do I do it.  Thanks. Embarrassed Undecided Cry Huh

Do the same operation but this time enable the log file. Then send me the maps and log.

Have you tried it with v160 or later? here is the latest one https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B1AiSuHdacfBTl80TUhPRHg5RXc

your previous MyECU is still functioning isn't it? Try the operation on that also if you can.

Hi Cliff,  If this should be in another place, please move it.  I just finished working on my Sporti again.
1. I started by going through the TPS procedure again.  I checked the TPS over it's range with a Voltmeter, to make sure it was OK, and then followed the procedure in the Shop Manual.
2. I used the Optimizer to set TPS.  The final result was 029 on the TPS.
3. Then I opened the butterflies to 077 by using the throttle stop on the left side.
4. After that, I warmed up the bike and balanced the throttle bodies using my Carb Stix at ~2500 RPM.
5. I couldn't get anywhere near idle without dying (the bike, not me), so I used the V1.66 ECUcontroller to get the ECU map, and looked at the injector value at 0,1.  The injector was set to ~11600, and 0,2 was similar, but neighboring values were in the 4000 region, so I set those two cells to ~4000, and then it would idle more or less reliably with a slight adjustment of the throttle stop to increase the RPMs.
6. The odd thing I noticed was that when I went to adjust the map at 0,1 it said that the O2 sensor was at O(4) -2.25v.  Is that the correct setting for the two LC-1's I am using?  The reason I asked is because when I hooked up the Optimizer and put it in Autotune, it started having trouble idling, and when I rechecked with the ECUcontroller, the values for 0,1 and 0,2 were back to ~11600.

2-2.5 is the correct voltage for a LC1 in factory default settings. The -ve sign is because of the reverse slope compared to the simpler sensors.

I don't know what's happening to the value at 0,1.
See if you can find the repro steps and send me the before and after maps and also the log file of the repro.

I am sending you an email with the maps and log.  Here is what I did: I needed to use the bike this morning, to go to town (7 mile round trip).  Unfortunately, I have no way to log that trip without strapping my laptop onto the bike, so I left the Optimiser plugged in, and put it into Autotune.  Generally, it ran kind of rough in some spots (2000-3000 rpm), and I had to leave the fast idle lever on so it wouldn't die at the traffic light (we don't have many).  As soon as I got home, I hooked up the laptop with V1.66, downloaded the map and saved it.  I setup a logfile and started the bike again, letting it idle with the fast idle lever on, then I increased the RPMs to the 2000-3000 range, followed by the 4000-5000 range, released the fast idle lever, twisted the throttle a few times, and let it return to idle, where it immediately died.  Unfortunately, the only bluetooth device I have is a Palm
Tungsten T5, which I can use to log my Buell, but your program is not written for PalmOS.  Right now, I can't justify buying a smartphone just so I can log the Guzzi's performance.  The PDA has a serial port, though, and a telnet program.  Is there a way I can log using that?

COnewbie, I've logged rides by throwing on saddlebags and putting the laptop in there, partially open and collecting data.  Not the best set up, but it works for the short data collection rides I do.

Although...I am looking to borrow my son's netbook, which would be much easier.

I will give that serious consideration.  I have a pair of saddlebags that I have modified so they will fit on my Buell, my Guzzi, and my Norton without modification.

Going forward the best option would be using an android phone/tablet and bluetooth. The ECUController for that platform now does the basic map transfers and logging and will quickly surpass the current eCUController and Optimiser

Any sign of your preordered Nexus 7 Cliff? It's gone eerily quiet this side of the globe. I did hear they were coming out a couple of days earlier than originally quoted. I checked the order status but there is nothing flagging up.

Is it possible to run Android on a windows notebook?  I have a MSI Wind U90 running XP with a small USB Bluetooth dongle.

No sign of Nexus 7. I think it was only a week ago for the order and they were saying 2-3weeks. There doesn't appear to be any charge on my card yet.

I run an x86 port of android under virtualbox without problem but I don't think the bluetooth is supported that way.
It should be possible to install it natively but again support for your particular hardware may be limited.

Real android devices ( phones, tablets, netbooks ) are getting cheap and cheaper by the day and you can always get a phone on a plan.

PS: it seems Nexus 7 is trending on G+ at the moment. It seems most people are still waiting for theirs.

Yes - Oz is receiving all pre-ordered Nexus 7s before us in the UK. Think it maybe next week before it pitches up - there seems to have been a glut of pre-orders here exceeding supply. I'm in the second tranche. Also a bit of stushy on the forums about Google pre-orders being delivered after some main stores had sold them from stock. I'll spend a day or two checking out android just now as it's a tad inclement here today. Do you want to sent me the code as I am interested in looking at the gui design?
Looking at putting sdk's etc onto the mac in the next day or two.
