Optimiser backup/Restore.

I understand the Optimiser backup/Restore function is pretty much at Beta stage and that little documentation exists.

Does the 'backup' copy of the map remain in the Optimiser after the bike power is turned off?

Assuming it does not is the purpose to allow you to start the bike on its existing map, 'backup' and then go for a ride using Autotune.  If the bike behaves badly as a result of the Autotune one can 'restore' the old map and ride home on that.  Without turning off the bike power I suppose.

I have seen hints of carrying a second map in the Optimiser, similar to several modern bikes, a 'performance map' and a 'touring map'.  That of course would need the Optimiser to either store the data when turned off or some kind of battery to keep it alive when the bike is off.

The map is stored in the Optimiser's permanent memory.
The idea is to use the backup to undo anything autotune put in.

I'm not a believer in multiple maps. One map should handle both modes because you should be operating in different parts of the map in sport mode as opposed to touring mode.

Thankyou, that answers my question.

I take your point about multiple maps, if you don't want to be in 'performance' mode, don't turn the throttle so far.  However my mate has an Aprilla with several maps accessed from a handlebar switch, he loves it saying the lower power setting is very comforting when riding in the rain, he also leaves it on that setting in town and when trying to obey speed limits - a flick of the switch and he is roaring off up the road again.

I have seen references to Backup/Restore, but I have no idea how to access it, or whether my Optimiser even has this mode.  Where can I find this information?

It sounds like your Optimiser doesn't have this feature as it is not hard to miss it. Send me an email and we'll get your Optimiser upgraded.
